Built between the 12th and 15th centuries, Château de Jumilhac was once a safe haven during wars and is known for its extraordinary architecture. The castle combines the robust style of the Middle Ages with the elegance of the Renaissance. Its towers, beautiful gardens and rich history make it a striking place.
From a distance, you can see the high, blue-slate roofs, which were replaced in the Renaissance by pointed versions decorated with alchemical symbols, making this castle unique in France.
Inside, it is just as impressive. There is a grand hall with wood panelling, Versailles parquet floors, a staircase from the time of Louis XIII, and a fireplace with detailed carvings, all accompanied by valuable furniture.
For a special experience, join a guided tour in the evening. A guide, dressed in medieval clothing, will tell stories and legends as you explore the castle by candlelight and torches.
