A spacious holiday home full of character
At the end of a long private drive, Chavie sits tucked away in the rolling countryside. This luxury holiday home sleeps twelve and offers spacious, light interiors, a large garden and several terraces within 3.5 hectares of private grounds. An impressive millstone at the entrance recalls the area’s farming heritage.

Wooden beams, beautiful floors and an open fireplace give the house a warm, country feel. The furnishings have been thoughtfully chosen to complement its character, with careful attention to detail. A striking feature is the spacious galleried landing overlooking the ground floor, which gives the interior an open, airy feel. The six spacious bedrooms are spread across both floors and invite you to enjoy a leisurely lie-in.

Outdoor living on the terraces and in the garden
French doors from the living room and a door from the kitchen lead onto the south-facing terrace, while the dining room opens onto the north-facing terrace. Depending on the sunshine and temperature, you can choose your favourite spot for breakfast, lunch or a drink.

Seating areas dotted around the gently sloping garden offer peaceful views over countryside with cypress trees and sunflower fields. Read a book in the hammock, enjoy a game of pétanque or help yourself to fruit from the trees when it is ripe.

Heated private pool and pool house
Beside the heated private swimming pool, measuring 12 x 6 m, stands a pool house with a large, well-equipped kitchen. It is ideal for preparing salads for the barbecue or fetching a chilled bottle of white wine or rosé.

Enjoy lunch or dinner under the veranda, settle into the outdoor lounge area or have a drink beside the pool as you make plans for the following day. With a large gas barbecue and the kitchen close at hand, cooking together and lingering over meals outdoors comes naturally.

Plenty to keep children entertained
Outside, children can play football, table tennis and badminton, or build dens in the woods. Indoors, the spacious galleried landing makes a lovely play area, with Lego, Duplo, Playmobil and Kapla. There are also plenty of games, puzzles and children’s books in Dutch and English for quiet moments or an afternoon of games together.

Exploring the local area
The charming bastide towns of Monflanquin and Villeréal are well worth a visit. Wander through the streets, browse a local market and stop for lunch in a town square. Pick up something delicious along the way to prepare back at the house that evening.

Sustainability and summer comfort
Chavie has several features designed to reduce water and energy consumption. Rooftop solar panels meet much of the house’s anticipated electricity demand. A heat pump supplies hot water and heating, including pool heating. Rainwater is collected for watering the garden, and plastic, paper, glass and general waste are separated for collection.

All windows are double-glazed, with shutters on the ground floor and blackout curtains upstairs. Keeping these closed on hot days helps keep the heat out and the house more comfortable.

  Accessibility
  Although the entrance is step-free and there is a ground-floor bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, the house and garden are less suitable for guests with reduced mobility. The garden has changes in level and unpaved paths. The narrow bedroom doorway and limited space in the downstairs bathroom also make the house less suitable for wheelchair users.

From the terrace you can enjoy the beautiful views with the sound of a babbling brook in the background.
