This property is in the middle of the Périgord Vert, the gastronomic heart of the Dordogne and a hilly, forested region of France with many streams, rivers and castles. The 52 hectare private estate has woods, meadows, and a small lake and offers endless opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy themselves. The impressive 12th century country house was once a monastery. Its large rooms are divided across three floors and are connected to each other by a beautiful stone staircases. These, and the exposed stone walls, serve as reminders of the rich history of the building. Even the outbuildings, such as the dovecote (‘pigeonnier’), the stables and the bread oven, echo an atmosphere of times gone by.

When you hire this holiday home, you get exclusive use of all the facilities. These include a private swimming pool, a tennis court, a covered terrace (with an open fire), a playground for the children and a large games area in the old stables. Even with a group of 12 people, you’ll still have plenty of space for peace and quiet and privacy in one of the many beautiful rooms, or in one of the many beautiful outside areas of the estate.

The lovely open plan kitchen is equipped with a fantastic oven and a large dining table where you can all eat together. A door from the kitchen leads to the courtyard and the covered terrace where you’ll, no doubt, spend a lot of time together enjoying a lovely glass of wine or a delicious outdoor lunch with the whole family. As you relax reading a book, you’ll hear the soft sounds of people playing tennis on the tennis court and the laugh of the children enjoying themselves on the playground equipment.

The village of St. Saud Lacoussière is on the River Dronne and is situated close to the picturesque and historic village of St. Jean de Côle and Thiviers (the capital of foie gras). The surrounding woods, rolling hills, and beautiful views will tempt you to enjoy stunning walks or bike rides.
