The former forge has been completely renovated and transformed into a gem by the River L'Isle. It is now a luxury holiday home with all modern conveniences. The elements that characterised the old forge have been preserved, such as the old fireplace and stone staircase with rope rail. The owners have lovingly restored everything and presented it beautifully. The large dining room has been beautifully lit, enticing everyone to have dinner together, to discuss the day or play games. Those who want a moment to themselves can snuggle up in the extension by the window and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and a good book. It goes without saying that the bedrooms and bathrooms on the top floor have also been beautifully renovated: the rooms are superbly painted, the wooden floors are sleek and the bedding matches perfectly.
The outside area is absolutely fantastic*: an enormous garden with woods and an amazing swimming pool of gigantic proportions! Measuring no less than 18 x 8 metres in size, with a depth of 1.6 to 2.5 metres and equipped with good lighting. On the sun terrace, sun beds are waiting for you to drift away to the sound of the river. A picnic table and a bar await you in the pool house, inviting you to cool off in the shade with a refreshing drink. Because the site is located directly on the river, you can easily walk to the water, where you can picnic, swim or fish in peace - with or without a swimming teacher, sports coach or fishing instructor (all available for hire).
The holiday home is situated near the medieval town of Jumilhac le Grand, making it the ideal place for lovers of historical sites.

Once again, thanks to you, we spent a wonderful week in the Dordogne!
La Vieille Forge is a unique property which has been tastefully restored by the ever helpful Brigitte and Patrick. The house is very spacious and provides all the modern comforts needed during your stay. In addition, the huge swimming pool is a delight for everyone. Also the peace radiated by the babbling river is lovely to enjoy. Several hours of table tennis and badminton were played in the large and well-tended garden. This is a place we will return to one day. Brigitte even said we are always welcome 'en passant' to have a drink.

It was a very nice holiday. This is a beautiful authentic house. You can see that the owners have done their best. You have a lot of privacy and it is very quiet and in a beautiful green area. The owners are hospitable and are ready when you need them. Our kids also enjoyed themselves in the large swimming pool and with the ping-pong table. The adjoining river offers plenty of entertainment for the kids.
