Domaine Lèisa is a luxury holiday home in the Lot-et-Garonne, in the heart of south-west France. Set on a peaceful hillside near Monflanquin, it enjoys far-reaching views across the rolling countryside, with the historic bastide visible in the distance. The former farmhouse, dating from 1850, has been thoughtfully renovated to create an exceptional home where old stone walls, soaring spaces and contemporary design come together beautifully. It is the kind of place where you open the doors to the outside in the morning, linger over breakfast on the terrace and realise there is really nowhere else you need to be.
Architecture with character
The impressive main living space is at the heart of the house, with a ceiling that rises to almost eight metres at its highest point. Large windows flood the interior with natural light and frame views of the surrounding countryside. The original stone walls and timber beams have been preserved, while the handcrafted stone staircase is a striking feature. Natural materials, bespoke details and carefully chosen furniture give the interior a calm, refined feel. Despite its impressive proportions, the house feels warm and relaxed.
Long days outdoors
On warm days, life naturally moves outside. There are several terraces and seating areas around the house, whether for breakfast in the morning sun, a long lunch in the shade or a glass of wine at the end of the day. The 11 x 5 metre heated saltwater pool is beautifully positioned in the garden, overlooking orchards, sunflower fields and rolling hills. There is plenty of space to spend time together, as well as quiet corners to retreat to.
Comfort throughout the seasons
Domaine Lèisa is equally inviting in spring and autumn. Underfloor heating and air conditioning in the living areas and bedrooms ensure a comfortable temperature throughout the year, while natural insulation materials were also used during the renovation. Large glazed doors lead directly from the living space onto the terraces and into the garden, making it easy to move between indoors and out throughout the day.
Monflanquin on the horizon
The historic bastide of Monflanquin can be seen in the distance. It is a lovely destination for a morning at the market, lunch on a terrace or dinner in the village. Other bastide villages, local markets and excellent restaurants are also within easy reach. Yet one of the pleasures of Domaine Lèisa is that returning home is every bit as appealing: another swim, dinner outside and the changing colours of the landscape as the day draws to a close.
